Touring kayaks are usually longer in length (13'-18'),and narrower in width (20"-24" solo) than the recreational kayaks or sit-on-tops. These boats are fast and very seaworthy for extended trips. Look for waterproof hatches bow & stern, rudders, smaller cockpits, deck rigging, and construction of fiberglass & Kevlar as well as polyethylene. Look here for serious, high performance ocean, lake or river touring capabilities.
